On 5th July 2005 we met Kathleen Blakeley and enjoyed sharing her many Mancunian memories, including an occasion when Hollywood came to Mancunian at teh Midland Hotel, Manchester in 1961 ...The photo above shows Kathleen sat with Cary Grant, her husband John Blakeley is stood behind her and on the left-hand side are Kathleen's parents Mr and Mrs Alfred and Molly Leigh, cinema proprietors. The others are Horace Carr Head of the General Film Distributors company and Miss Edge who ran the Tatton Cinema at Gatley. |
This photograph of the Mancunian Studios on Dickinson Road after it had been taken over by the BBC is assumed to be have been taken by Tom Blakeley because that's his car on the left! This is where Cuthbert met Jimi Hendrix in 1967! We're always on the look-out for images of the Studio before the BBC took over in 1964 so if you can help out please let us know! |
