Mike Craig Comedy Archive launch 31 May 2012

Pictured above at the Launch of the Mike Craig Comedy Archive are (L:R) Chris Lee (Cuthbert), Buzz Hawkins, Bernie Clifton, Steve Garner and John Henshaw.

Mike Craig sadly died in 2010 but his long career in comedy, writing and producing more than 1,200 shows for radio and television, is remembered and honoured forever with this archive available by appointment at the University of Salford, Media City LINK

On 31 May 2012, Bernie Clifton, a great friend of Mike's, officially opened the online archive* to a thrilled crowd of Comedy Conference goers and other lucky guests at a party in Sandbar, Grosvenor Street, Manchester. Mike would have been thrilled at the hilarity that ensued from Bernie's speech which had everyone joined as one with his stories from across the years of him and Mike working together, as well as with sticky tape (honestly!).

* The archive comprises digitised transfers of Mike Craig's store of tapes collected during his time as producer and scriptwriter at the BBC. The collection was kindly donated by Mike's widow Sue to the University of Salford so that it can be used for education, information and entertainment. It consists of entire shows, interviews with comedians and light entertainment characters, and other archive material.
