Welcome to the Cuthbert Club Funtime Memorial page of 11 July 2009. Randle friends from all over the globe gathered together at the Frank Randle Blue Plaque installed on Blackpool's North Pier in 2007. For any new visitors, the Day of the Unveiling is known as 777 (owing to that date - 7 July 2007 - being the 50th anniversary of Frank's death on 07/07/57 and the day the Frank Randle plaque was unveiled).

Frank Randle FUNTIME MEMORIAL Day 11 July 2009

The 2009 Frank Randle Funtime Memorial Day was truly marvellous from the morning event at the Cemetery through to the Fettle Formby Ukulele bash on the North Pier in the afternoon.

Once again our thanks go to Cath at the Carleton Cemetery cafe for her hospitality and warm welcome. Steve King and Slim Ingram were there to meet us and Phil Baker had kindly worked with Steve to provide a selection of filmic delights for the diners. Frank was given a well-earned drink of beer by Cuthbert (see below) before members paid their individual respects.

It was agreed to investigate the setting up of a supplementary memorial stone at the grave with the words of Franks' poem etched onto it - the Home page will carry details of the funding required:

After lunch, members reconvened at the plaque opposite the Carousel Bar where we first heard Paul Culkin's fantastic song 'King of Blackpool'. Sundry other numbers were performed by Chris Carson, Cuthbert and Lee Mannering. Everyone left happy and looking forward to a longer, Funtime Memorial weekend next year in 2010.
